𝐒𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢 𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐚 takes its title from an Italian expression that designates those seemingly minor yet insistent presences (memories, disquietudes, fragments) that continue to press against one’s path, altering the rhythm of movement and shaping the experience of the journey. Within the framework of this exhibition, the phrase becomes a metaphor for the cultural residues and archaeological traces that persist in one's mental imagery.
The exhibition showcases recent paintings and ceramic works created over the current year by Mircea Modreanu, in which archaeological relics from disparate civilizations, from Mesoamerican votive figurines to Roman, Scandinavian, and Dacian artifacts, are transformed into main character presences. Far from mere reproductions, these objects are reconstituted as totemic signifiers, mediating between their archaic sacrality and the artist’s subjective lexicon. In this process, Modreanu delineates a personal mythology that overlays biography with collective history, charting a terrain where identity is apprehended as mutable, nomadic, and contingent upon encounters and cultural sedimentations.
