“𝘠𝘎𝘎𝘋𝘙𝘈𝘚𝘐𝘓𝘓 is one of Mircea Modreanu’s most recent projects and at the same time a natural continuation of earlier themes and of a shift in perspective already announced by the frottages and drawings included in his exhibition About the Self, Crosses and Other Things, curated by Călina Coman at MNȚRplusC. The central motif of the exhibition is the tree of life, a symbol whose destiny, beyond the diversity of its representations, is always that of erasing the boundaries and sealed separations between the planes of existence. Mircea Modreanu contemplates the tree of life in all its complexity: it is assimilated to the human being or becomes a companion to human experience throughout all its stages; the tree is unifying, only seemingly dual: it is both archetypal and individual, axis of the world and decorative superstructure, a structure generating geometry and a naturalistic depiction of the vegetal element, a symbol of resurrection and an emblematic presence in rites of passage — yet he approaches it from an affective, personifying perspective. The 𝘠𝘎𝘎𝘋𝘙𝘈𝘚𝘐𝘓𝘓 project is a moment of introspection, of returning and researching, from the standpoint of his own personal and artistic trajectory, the connection with an archaic substratum of symbols and morphologies that belong, on one hand, to a specific cultural area — that of the momârlani community in the Petroșani region — but also to a symbolic reality that precedes, surpasses, or is rediscovered beyond the geographical, cultural, or temporal boundaries of various mythologies.” — Mălina Ionescu, curator
